Property adviser CBRE has reported steady growth for rental values across UK commercial property.

The latest CBRE monthly index revealed that rental values had increased by 0.1% on average in January.

The industrial sector maintained its strong performance at the end of 2016 into the new year with rental values growing by 0.3% last month.

“Following a positive end to a turbulent 2016, January saw a relatively solid start to 2017, with industrials continuing to lead the way,” said Miles Gibson, head of UK research at CBRE.

All UK property capital values rose by 0.3% on average with outer London/M25 offices recording the strongest growth at 0.6%.

The retail warehouse sector saw capital growth rise by 0.2%, an increase on the 0.1% growth recorded in December.

This result went against the historic trend of a weaker performance in January compared with December, which was seen in all other segments.

This trend saw total returns across all UK property fall to 0.7%, compared with 1.1% in December.
