Amicus Commercial Mortgages launches

Amicus Finance PLC has announced the launch of Amicus Commercial Mortgages.

Rob Lankey (pictured above) has been appointed managing director of Amicus Commercial Mortgages and will work alongside David Stiff, director of partner relationships.

The Peterborough-based ‘one-stop commercial mortgage shop’ will work with a group of expert brokers to provide commercial mortgages across a broad range of SME sectors, property types and borrower risks.

Amicus Commercial Mortgages – which offers direct access to underwriters – has adopted a new way of working with master brokers, who will help to manage and process new applications on its behalf.

The business uses a risk-based pricing model, paperless processing system and a pragmatic underwriting strategy from standard to bespoke transactions, depending on deal complexity.

“I’m delighted to be launching Amicus Commercial Mortgages,” said Rob.

“Having led and established commercial mortgage businesses for most of my career, and most recently being CEO of the NACFB, I understand better than anyone what it takes to run a successful commercial mortgage operation, working alongside high-quality brokers.

“Our panel of brokers has been carefully chosen, representing years of close personal, trusted relationships and will be regularly reviewed and expanded with more high-quality brokers as needs dictate.

“Our objective is to make this new commercial mortgage business the best yet.”

Rob and David will work alongside a senior team, including Steve Prydderch, head of credit and special servicing; Luke Watson, head of underwriting; Graham Ritchie, senior lending manager; and Mike Williams, head of operations.

Amicus Commercial Mortgages expects to become a significant lender and grow its headcount to 65 over the next five years.

Keith Aldridge, managing director at Amicus Finance, added: “Led by a highly experienced team coupled with an expert panel of carefully selected brokers, valuers and solicitors, Amicus Commercial Mortgages is an exciting extension of our capabilities in the property lending sector.

“SMEs and property investors are increasingly turning to specialist lenders, who have the local knowledge and skills to understand their specific needs.

“Our localised relationship-based approach resonates well with fast-growing SMEs looking for specialist lending.”

David Whittaker, CEO of Mortgages for Business, said: “The broker market will be delighted to see Rob back as managing director of a new specialist lender; he brings a real passion to commercial mortgages and a wholehearted commitment to service delivery and broker relationships.

“I’ve no doubt that the market will be looking forward to the roll-out of this proposition in the weeks ahead.”

Russ Martin, managing director at Finance 4 Business, added: “The combination of Rob’s leadership and the infrastructure provided by Amicus is sure to provide a fantastic proposition with which we’re delighted to be involved.

“I understand that the process and procedures being introduced by Amicus Commercial Mortgages will show real innovation and, I believe, will set the bar other lenders will soon aspire to.”
