Brightstar has been praised by brokers for the value of its first specialist lending workshop, which took place last Thursday (7th June).

The workshop – which covered specialist residential lending, complex buy-to-let, second charge mortgages, short-term lending and commercial finance – provided brokers, who are already involved in the sector, with an opportunity to meet lenders and learn new ways to improve and diversify into additional lending areas.

Lenders which attended the workshop included InterBay Commercial, Kensington, Pepper Money, TML and United Trust Bank.

“I found Brightstar’s specialist lending event insightful and refreshing – the lenders that attended all offered something different,” said Mark Rose at Live Financial Mortgages.

“This has helped further my knowledge of my complex lending areas, enabling me to help more clients who may have a more specialist requirement.”

Ian Falder, managing director at Robert Lewis Wealth Management, thanked Brightstar for hosting the workshop.

“I found the day informative and valuable.

“It is great to be working with businesses that share the same passion to delivering great client outcomes.”

Brightstar is set to run its second workshop for brokers on Thursday 21st June.

Michelle Westley, head of marketing at Brightstar (pictured above), added: “With financial inclusion high on the FCA’s agenda, growing demand from borrowers with diverse circumstances and robo-advice providing a threat to some areas of intermediary business, there has never been a better time for brokers to get involved with specialist lending.

“We have found that brokers are hungry to do more business in the sector, but are sometimes deterred if they don’t think they have the specialist knowledge.

“This is where partnering with an expert can be so beneficial and feedback from brokers in our first workshop showed that a conversation with Brightstar can open up a wealth of opportunity.”
