Glenhawk hires new BDM for South West expansion

Glenhawk has appointed Steve Smith (pictured above) as business development manager for the South West.

Steve joins the specialist lender with over 10 years of experience as a business development manager specialising in the South West of England and south Wales.

Prior to joining Glenhawk, he was a relationship manager at Shawbrook, where he was responsible for bringing on board brokers for asset finance.

Steve has also worked as a business development manager for the South at Roma Finance and held roles at Blue Sky Finance, Close Brothers Invoice Finance and Bank of Scotland.

At Glenhawk, Steve will report to director of lending Nick Hilton and be responsible for building the lender’s loan book exposure in the South West.

He will manage Glenhawk’s current South West portfolio, while expanding and strengthening the lender’s broker relationships across the region.

“Steve is one of the best-performing business development managers in his sector,” said Guy Harrington, CEO at Glenhawk.

“With his experience and unique understanding of the broker market combined with his regional expertise, he will be a huge asset to Glenhawk’s expanding operations.”

The appointment follows Glenhawk’s recent £75m funding line to support its growth.

“The South West represents a growing market which provides an opportunity for us to deliver a unique lending proposition which is entirely client-centric and focuses on improving transparency,” added Guy.

“We are one of the first lenders specifically targeting the South West and believe this is key to pursuing our strategy of becoming the UK’s short-term property lender of choice.”

Harry Hill, non-executive director at Glenhawk, said: “Glenhawk’s expansion in the South West demonstrates the business’s tremendous growth within its first year of operating.

“Combined with securing its recent funding line, the company is now well positioned to expand its reach and capitalise on the continued strong performance of the South’s housing market.”
