Ortus appoints two new BDMs after record year

Ortus Secured Finance has appointed two new business development managers following a record year in terms of lending volume.

The specialist lender has hired Jamie Russell (pictured above), who will manage broker relationships in London and the South of England, and Colin Anderson, who will be based in Glasgow covering Scotland and the North East.

Jamie joins from Octopus Property, where he was also a business development manager.

Colin has spent almost 30 years in the property lending industry and joins from Santander, where he managed the Scottish real estate portfolio.

Jon Salisbury, managing director at Ortus, said that after a record 2018, it was aiming for an even bigger 2019 and educating brokers about its service was a key part of this.

“We’re really pleased Jamie has chosen Ortus as the next step in his career.

“The demand from our broker community in London and the South of England is really strong and they will benefit from Jamie’s energy and determination to deliver Ortus’s award-winning service.

“We are also delighted to welcome Colin to the team given that Scotland is such an important market for Ortus.

“We have been lending there for many years and Colin has the local knowledge and experience necessary to take advantage of the many opportunities we see in Scotland.”

Jamie added that Ortus had a huge amount of experience in dealing with complex assets and ownership structures.

“I’m really excited to be involved with such challenging transactions and delivering bespoke solutions to brokers.”

Colin said it was an exciting opportunity to be part of Ortus’s growth plans.

“I’ve joined a highly experienced and motivated team with a focus on service with immediate access to the decision makers.

“The ability to come up with sensible structures for even the more complex deals and turn them round so quickly is refreshing.”
