Ortus opens Belfast office

Ortus Secured Finance has opened its Belfast office and appointed Shane Donnelly (pictured above, left) to head up its Northern Ireland operations.

The specialist lender said that it planned to create 10 local jobs in the next 12 to 18 months.

Ortus has been active in Northern Ireland since 2014 and now has its own office in Arthur House in the heart of the city.

Jon Salisbury, managing director at Ortus Secured Finance (right), said that having a physical presence demonstrated the company’s confidence and commitment to the local market, and was the next logical step in its growth.

“Our experiences in Northern Ireland have been really positive.

“We have huge respect for the business and professional community and believe there is significant untapped potential for specialist lenders like Ortus.

“We have spent time getting to know the market before taking the decision to open an office.

“Shane is an experienced real estate finance professional and very well connected in the Northern Irish business community.

“He shares our core values and is passionate about the service he provides to clients.

“We have every confidence that he is the right person to take our business in Northern Ireland to the next level.”

Shane joins Ortus as a director from Bank of Ireland, where he was previously part of the residential arm of the specialist property group at the bank.

Shane said that he was delighted to join Jon and the Ortus team in heading up and driving the Northern Irish business.

“Ortus’s relationship-based model and unique product offering is ideally suited to service a growing local property sector and take full advantage of funding gaps in the market.”

To date, Ortus has issued loan offers, or agreements in principle, totalling more than £200m in Northern Ireland.

In January, Ortus announced plans to grow its loan book to £250m.
