First 4 Bridging plans to expand after gaining full FCA regulated status

First 4 Bridging was granted fully regulated status by the FCA in July, and can now undertake activities such as secured loans, residential mortgages, BTL and raising funds for debt consolidation.

In an interview with Bridging & Commercial, Steve Swyny, head of sales at First 4 Bridging (pictured above), stated that the authorisation process was merely the next stage in its plans.

“This move offers our clients and introducers greater peace of mind in the fact that we are now operating under stricter regulatory guidelines and constant FCA monitoring.

“This is an important step in a long road to becoming the UK’s leading and most respected specialist distributor, but it is only the beginning.”

First 4 Bridging will now be able to explore new markets as a result of the authorisation, however, Steve claimed that it would tread carefully.

The specialist distributor aims to grow and is on the lookout for people to join the team.

“…While there are expansion plans firmly in place, its vital that we do so in the right way, with the right people.

“Finding such people is often the greatest challenge and shouldn’t be rushed.

“This additional authorisation certainly provides us with a great opportunity to explore new markets, but we must ensure that we do so in a responsible manner, from both a regulatory and business perspective.”

Steve said that being fully regulated was always a goal for the company.

“However, in order to achieve this, we had to ensure that we were not only in the right place as a business, but that we also had the infrastructure in place to build on this strong platform and venture into other key areas of specialist finance.

“We did not enter into this lightly.

“The authorisation process is a lengthy and complex process; it is certainly not just a case of filling in a few forms and completing an application.

“But it’s a decision we’re glad we took and one which bodes well for the future.”
