Shawbrook appoints new director to unitranche team

Shawbrook has expanded its unitranche team with the appointment of James Salmon (pictured above) as a new director.

James has 15 years of experience within commercial finance and the private equity market.

He joins from Big Issue Invest, where he was a fund manager for three years.

Prior to this, James held senior positions during his nine years at RBS, where he served in roles including senior analyst and director for financial sponsors.

Shawbrook’s unitranche proposition was launched in June to support mid-market sponsors to fund leveraged buyouts.

“We have seen a lot of demand for our unitranche product over the past six months, with the number of enquiries continuing to grow,” said Jennifer Murray, senior director for the unitranche team at Shawbrook.

“Feedback from the first three transactions has been great and now, with James’ expert knowledge in origination and execution of leveraged loan facilities, we’re excited about what Shawbrook can do in this space.”

James added: “Shawbrook has quickly established a positive reputation within the sponsor community and I was impressed by its outlook and ambition to do things differently.

“The unitranche product is well designed to establish itself as the go-to, one-stop funding solution for lower mid-market, private equity-backed SMEs.”
