Merchant Money set to expand broker partnerships across Northern Powerhouse and Midlands

Merchant Money has revealed that it will be looking to expand its broker base across the Northern Powerhouse and the Midlands following a noticeably "high demand" for loans in these regions.

Tom Shave, director of broker at Merchant Money (pictured above) — who was recently recruited by Merchant Money — described the demand as a “great opportunity” for the specialist lender to work with local broker communities in those areas.

“[In particular], we’ve identified the Northern Powerhouse and the Midlands [as places] where there’s a high demand for loans and Merchant Cash Advance (MCA).

“With that comes a great opportunity for us to work with the broker community in these regions.

“We’re, therefore, targeting our energies on these areas and will be proactively onboarding and working with brokers in those regions as well as the rest of the UK.”

Tom also asserted that while there was currently a noticeable level of uncertainty in the market, he believed that the business finance sector would be resilient.

“Undoubtably there is noise and an element of distraction with Brexit and the [recent] general election that has created uncertainty in the market — however, I believe that the business finance sector will remain buoyant and there will be growth in the sector.

“Ultimately, businesses still need to make the necessary investments, purchase equipment and recruit, regardless of the political landscape.

“With this in mind, the options available to SMEs to access varying forms of finance is huge and I am confident 2020 will see a positive utilisation trend across the different lending products in the market.”
