Merchant Money names new BDM

Merchant Money has appointed Kevin Smith (pictured above) as its new BDM.

Kevin — who has 29 years of client services experience — joins from Boost Capital.

He spent almost four years at the alternative lender and was a part of the company’s record year, where its volume of unsecured business deals rose by 200%.

Prior to Boost Capital, Kevin held various trader and broker roles, including 19 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Kevin also held similar roles at Smith Barney and Daiwa Europe.

“Kevin’s industry knowledge and impressive client relationship experience is a great addition to the team,” said Thomas Shave, director of broker and intermediary sales at Merchant Money.

“Of course, Merchant Money is investing in the right systems and credit risk underwriting, but just as important is the fact that we’re investing in the right experts to grow solid relationships with our established and new brokers.”

Kevin added: “Applying my knowledge of the industry to really understand our brokers’ requirements, combined with an exciting product range to offer, is what first interested me in the role.

“My job is to further strengthen strategic partnerships.

“For me, it’s about having a single-minded focus on getting it right for them as well as us.

“We cannot be a success if they’re not part of it.”
