Arc & Co podcast: Jon Salisbury on the intricacies of setting up a business

In Arc & Co's latest podcast, Andrew Robinson, CEO at Arc & Co (pictured above, left), interviews Jon Salisbury, managing director at Ortus Secured Finance (pictured above, right).

During the first part of the episode, Jon recalls his beginnings in the financial services sector via a graduate scheme at the Bank of Scotland, travelling and working in Australia, and then navigating through the collapse of the banking industry in 2008.

Andrew and Jon also discuss how to identify a gap in the market, and the intricacies of setting up a business.

In the second part of the episode, Andrew and Jon discuss the beginnings of Ortus and its growth to the business it is today, as well as how technology is helping Ortus, and the important role people and relationships play in the lending industry.

This is the third new episode in the Arc & Co podcast series, following a short hiatus.

The first episode welcomed Christian Faes, co-founder and chairman of LendInvest, who talked to Andrew about whether fintech companies are more valuable than bridging lenders.

Jo Heywood, chief credit officer at Propfin, joined for the second episode, in which she and Matthew Yassin, director of structured finance at Arc & Co (pictured above, right), looked at Propfin’s journey up to present day, and how it approaches underwriting to get the best results for its clients.

The full episode (part one and two) with Jon, and the previous ones with Christian and Jo, are available on Apple Podcasts for iOS users and Spotify.
