The penultimate stage in the hotly anticipated Bridging & Commercial Awards 2014 took place on Tuesday, with our judges deliberating the fate of the shortlisted candidates.

Judging took place on Tuesday to decide the winners of this year’s Bridging & Commercial Awards, ahead of the event on June 26th at the Hurlingham Club.

The judging took place with two separate panels: one, a panel of lenders deliberating over intermediary-based categories; the other, a selection of the industry’s most prestigious brokerages, judging the lenders.

In response to the event, some industry members took to twitter. Regentsmead Managing Director, James Bloom, said: “Really well organised judging day for the @BandCNews awards. Some strongly contested awards. Good to see the industry! @Regentsmead”
AOBP Chairman and CEO of Brightstar Financial, Rob Jupp, tweeted: “Really enjoyed the @BandCNews judging day with a genuinely good, democratic process followed. Good luck to all the chosen finalists”

The Lender Panel including: Benson Hersch, Marc Goldberg, Alan Cleary, Rob Lankey, Martin Gilsenan, Richard Deacon, James Bloom, Alan Margolis, Keith Aldridge, and Mark Posniak.

Each judge provided salient reasons for their choices and offered some interesting anecdotal evidence, which made for a topical discussion lasting all afternoon.

Some categories, including the prestigious Bridging Lender of the Year group, provoked a fierce debate from the panel.

Judges voted in confidence via a ballot sheet, divulging whether they nominated someone as the winner or highly commended.

All judges signed an NDA to ensure that the discussions and proceedings of the day remain concealed until the ceremony on the 26th of June.
