Commercial finance broker snaps up experienced bank staff

Commercial finance brokerage B2Bmortgage.co.uk is capitalising on the amount of redundancies being made at high street lenders.

B2Bmortgage.co.uk has grown its team from six brokers to 22 in just 10 months after targeting and recruiting experienced former high street lender staff.

The broker is now aiming to grow its team to 30 by the end of the year.

“I think it’s important that these skills are not lost from the industry, and instead are put to work helping customers find funding,” said James Booker, co-founder of B2Bmortgage.co.uk.

“B2B offers a unique home working model which allows these ex-corporate people to have a complete change in lifestyle, swapping the shirt and tie for flip flops and shorts.”

James is also the co-founder of Fundbay, which introduces commercial borrowers to traditional and alternative commercial finance lenders.

He revealed that B2Bmortgage.co.uk had mainly picked up staff from NatWest/RBS and Lloyds with most having 20 to 30 years of experience.

“You have to ask, who is going to be left at the bank with any experience to advise customers?

“What we can see happening is the role of the broker is morphing into the advisory role that the banks regional manager’s used to provide.”
