Ex-Aldermore director joins peer-to-peer lender

Peer-to-peer lender ThinCats has appointed a former Aldermore and RBS manager as its new chief development officer.

Damon Walford joins from NuFi Ltd where he was managing director but before that he spent four years as the managing director of Aldermore Invoice Finance having previously worked at RBS Invoice Finance, where he managed teams focused on asset-based lending whilst being a regional director.

At ThinCats, Damon will be working alongside John Mould, CEO, to help grow the lender’s existing business and capitalise on new opportunities, mainly looking at how it can widen its network of sponsors across the UK.

ThinCats recently passed the £200m milestone in lending to SMEs and is looking to continue this momentum with the recruitment of Damon.

“Damon is a fantastic appointment and brings a vast amount of expertise to the role,” said Kevin Caley, chairman and founder of ThinCats.

“His experience [of] consulting and working within high street lenders and challenger banks will be hugely valuable in driving ThinCats forward and enriching our offering for lenders and borrowers.”

Damon will be tasked with improving the customer journey for introducers, borrowers and lenders as he hopes to make the lending process as seamless as possible.

“After many years working within more traditional lending environments, it’s hugely exciting to be part of this fast-developing sector.

“I want ThinCats to be the first port of call for SMEs in search of finance and I hope my experience can help sustain its position as Europe’s largest secured peer-to-peer platform.”
