Challenger bank names new commercial director

Cambridge & Counties has appointed its first commercial director to oversee the niche bank's lending.

Simon Lindley has been appointed to the position after joining Cambridge & Counties at its 2012 launch as business development manager.

The new role will also see Simon involved in the challenger bank’s asset finance operation as he takes over from Mike Oxby who has departed.

Simon has also been responsible for Cambridge & Counties’ property-backed lending and Mike Kirsopp, CEO, said the bank’s real estate lending had grown 141% over the past two years.

“In taking over responsibility for our young asset finance business, Simon will drive the same acceleration in business growth thanks to the close relationships between the bank and its broker introducers and customers.”

Simon added: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to build upon the work done to establish the asset finance operation for the bank.

“I am looking forward to utilising my 25 years spent lending to businesses to continue to grow this area.”

Mike paid tribute to Simon’s predecessor Mike Oxby who helped build the bank’s asset finance team.

“He successfully achieved all we expected to, including the appointment of a new business development field force to represent our asset finance business across the North, Midlands and East of England.

“We thank Mike for all his hard work and for bringing such a huge influence to bear on a young business that looks set fair to grow strongly through 2017 and beyond.”
