MarketInvoice appoints Zopa co-founder as chairman

Peer-to-peer platform MarketInvoice has appointed Giles Andrews as the new chairman of its board of directors.

Giles (Pictured, centre) will work with the company co-founders Anil Stocker (pictured right) and Ilya Kondrashov (pictured left) to drive scale in the business and manage the board of directors.

He is an entrepreneur with over 25 years of experiences, studied experimental psychology at Oxford University, has an MBA from INSEAD (Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires) and received an OBE for services to financial services in the 2016 New Year's honours list.

Giles is the chairman of Zopa – which he co-founded in 2004 and served as CEO from 2007 to 2015 – and is also the chairman of Bethnal Green Ventures, an accelerator for tech start-ups.

“MarketInvoice is transforming the landscape of the business finance industry,” said Giles.

“I have long been fascinated by their game-changing and innovative attitude.

“I look forward to working with the team in channelling their drive and ambition.”

In the last 12 months, the platform has funded over £1bn worth of invoices and lent on average £2,196 to businesses per minute.

Anil, who is also the CEO of MarketInvoice, said: “In preparing the business for the next phase of growth, we are delighted to welcome Giles as chairman of the board.

“His expertise in building businesses and extensive experience of the peer-to-peer lending sector will provide just the perspective and guidance MarketInvoice requires to scale new heights.”

The company has targeted £2bn worth of funding in 2017 following the launch of its new funding product MarketInvoice Pro.
