Growth Street replaces CEO

SME finance platform Growth Street has announced the appointment of a new CEO.

Founder and chief risk officer Greg Carter (pictured above) will resume his role as CEO, replacing James Sherwin-Smith, who was appointed to the role in 2015 for launch.

Since then, Growth Street secured appointed representative status, welcoming over 500 investors to its marketplace.

Greg said: “I would like to thank James for all the hard work he put in over the last two years in growing Growth Street.

“We would not be where we are now without his diligent and expert leadership.

“The whole Growth Street family is incredibly excited for the year ahead and I look forward to building on James’ fantastic work.”

Greg founded the company while working at Arts Alliance, the venture capital investors in Graze, Shazam and LoveFilm.

Growth Street provides SME finance through the form of alternative business overdrafts, offering investors the chance to earn interest on loans to small- and medium-sized businesses.

The platform has now matched over £54m in funding for businesses.

James added: “It has been a pleasure building the Growth Street business over the past 18 months.

“I wish Greg and the team the best of luck for the future and will watch Growth Street’s developments with interest.”
