Innovate UK funds 80 projects

Innovate UK has invested £15m in a range of business schemes with the potential to disrupt commercial markets.

Eighty high-growth potential projects were awarded funding from the agency, which is sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy.

Recipients include Block Dox Limited, which has won a proposed £69,986 grant to help develop a unique occupancy assessment platform for buildings.

Paul Mason, emerging and enabling technologies director at Innovate UK, said: “The quality and breadth of applications for this competition was excellent.

“It highlights the appetite and capacity of UK businesses to innovate, and to find new sources of revenue from new products, processes or services.”

Other successful applicants include a scheme to improve the transfer of data from satellites to Earth and a project to develop advanced antimicrobial coatings.

Meanwhile, Holosphere Ltd will work with Jaguar Land Rover to create an augmented reality car configurator for use in its showrooms around the country.

Innovate UK has committed over £1.8bn to projects since 2007, matched by a similar amount in partner and business funding.

The agency has helped more than 7,600 organisations to create 55,000 extra new jobs.
