Six events to wrap up 2017




Bridging & Commercial presents an essential guide to specialist finance events for the remainder of 2017. Find out where you need to be to learn, network and hopefully increase business.

1. ASTL 2017 Annual Conference  

The Association of Short Term Lenders is holding its annual conference on 14th September 2017 at Painters’ Hall, London.

Tim Shipman – the political editor of The Sunday Times – will be the keynote speaker, with Lorna O’Brien of the FCA and Peter Andrews of the Bank of England also appearing.

The year’s subject is ‘Brexit and Bridging’ and will focus on how the bridging finance industry is likely to respond to the opportunities and challenges created by the EU Referendum outcome.

2. The London Property Finance Conference 2017

UK Property Professionals (UKPP) is set to host its annual London Property Finance Conference on 21st September at The Building Centre, Store Street, London.

This is a go-to event for all London-based property professionals, including developers, agents, surveyors, investors, funders, property fund managers, lawyers, finance brokers and bankers.

The day will feature market overviews by both Savills and NatWest, as well an introduction by Mark Antscherl, founder of UKPP.

Since its launch in 2010, the UKPP has run over 200 events in the UK, attracting over 10,000 attendees.

3. LendIt Europe

Europe’s largest fintech event is expected to draw more than 1,000 delegates from the UK and mainland Europe as well as North America and Asia.

Held at the Intercontinental O2 Hotel on 9-10th October, the event covers the latest topics in fintech, blockchain, insurtech and digital banking.

Confirmed speakers for the 2017 edition include Jaidev Janardana, CEO of Zopa, Francesco Brenna, partner at IBM Global Business Services, and Shane Williams, co-founder of UBS SmartWealth.

4. UK Finance: SME Commercial Finance and Banking Conference 2017

UK Finance – the newly formed professional body for the financial services industry – is about to host its first annual conference.  

The association will look to address the latest developments in SME finance, including:

assessing SMEs performance and their ambitions for the future
understanding the scope and extent of alternative finance provision
new banking and lending standards as drivers for growth
the use of data in digital banking and the key challenges between open APIs and data privacy.

Graham Olive, deputy CEO of OakNorth, and Conrad Ford, chief executive of Funding Options, will be among the speakers at the event along with Margot James MP.

5. MIPM UK 

Following on from its international event in Cannes, France, MIPIM UK promises a comprehensive conference programme on the UK real estate industry.

At the event, there will be speeches and panel discussions featuring the likes of Grainne Gilmore, head of UK residential research at Knight Frank, and Amanda Clack, president of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

This year’s theme is: “How is the UK responding to the immediate challenges of the UK property market?”

The event will be held at Olympia in London on 18-19th October. 

6. Finance Professional Show 2017

The Finance Professional Show (FP Show) will return for its fifth year at Olympia in London and feature exhibitors from across the specialist lending market, including commercial finance, bridging finance, development finance, leasing and asset finance and buy-to-let lending.

The event hosts a full conference programme and was visited by over 1,800 people in 2016.

FP Show even boasts its very own mobile app that allows visitors to view the event agenda, organise a schedule, browse attendee profiles, send in-app messages, exchange contact info and find attendees.
