Zopa bolsters executive team

Zopa has announced three appointments to its executive team, including a new chief financial officer.

The P2P lending platform has named Steve Hulme as its chief financial officer, while Phillip Dransfield and Clare Gambardella have been made chief risk officer and chief customer officer respectively.

Steve Hulme, CFO at Zopa

Steve has joined Zopa from Tandem Money, where he served as chief financial officer for the past two years.

Prior to his time at Tandem, Steve was chief financial officer for PayPal’s global credit business and held the same role for Capital One’s UK and Canadian business.

Phillip Dransfield, CRO at Zopa

Phillip has been recruited from TSB Bank – where he was responsible for leading the credit risk function – and brings over 20 years of experience to Zopa.

In his new role, Phillip will be responsible for maintaining and furthering Zopa’s track record in risk management, while also looking to be at the forefront of customer-focused innovation in financial services.

Clare has moved from Virgin Active, where she was group chief marketing officer responsible for brand and marketing for the group’s international network covering 270 clubs in 10 countries.

At Zopa, Clare will be in charge of the marketing, HR and customer-facing teams to ensure the company’s internal culture, customer service, and marketing and communications are aligned to strengthen its brand.

The new hires come as Zopa moves towards its bank launch and the platform hopes the appointments reflect its ambition to be the best place for its customers’ money.

“Last year was another stellar year for the growth and development of Zopa and our team continues to go from strength to strength in 2018 at what is a hugely exciting time for the business,” said Jaidev Janardana, CEO of Zopa (pictured above: top).

“We’re delighted to have three, high-profile and exceptionally talented people join the business.

“Our people are our biggest competitive advantage and these additions further strengthen our position.”
