The Association of Bridging Professionals (AOBP) has released its December market report, highlighting the main players in bridging.
The figures were derived from data collected by AOBP non-lender members and show that there has been an increase in the number of large loans made. At the same time, the largest lenders continued to lead the market in terms of the overall numbers of loans made at the end of the year *.
Drawbridge had the greatest lender market share, completing 37 per cent of the total number of cases. Mark Posniak, national sales and operations manager at Drawbridge, told the AOBP: “We’re delighted to be on top and to be providing the brokers with what they want. We hope that we will continue to provide a product and service that meets demand in the upcoming year.”
Lancashire Mortgage Corporation (LMC) held onto second position in terms of case numbers, while West One increased its market share and is now just two per cent behind LMC.
Drawbridge were also leaders in terms of loan size in December, with West One not far behind. Specialist lender Lancashire Mortgage Corporation remain dominant players in this field.
When asked why he thinks these big companies were able to hold such a large proportion of the market share, and why they were able to lend the biggest loans, Duncan Kreeger, Chairman of West One, told the AOBP: “Brokers like to know who to go to and where they will get a result. After they experience a good service they return and we continue to grow. West One are also one of only a small number of lenders who can lend over a million to borrowers.”
As well as the big players maintaining their hold on the biggest loans and the market share, December also saw United Trust Bank (UTB), the only bank in the portfolio, achieving a 7 per cent market share and 10 per cent of the loan sizes.
