Belmont Green names new chief risk officer

Belmont Green Finance has appointed Stephen Roughton-Smith (pictured above) as its new chief risk officer (CRO).

Stephen — who has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry — previously served at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, where he was the interim CRO.

He has held a variety of senior roles in the sector, including co-head at Moody’s EMEA structured finance business, UK CRO at ABN Amro, and deputy CRO and group credit director at Lloyds Banking Group.

Belmont Green operates in the specialist owner-occupied and BTL mortgage origination market through its Vida Homeloans brand.

David Tweedy, CEO at Belmont Green, said: “Risk taking is an inherent part of our business, but must be managed and controlled to ensure good outcomes for customers, alignment with our strategic objectives, long-term financial security and sustainability.

“I am delighted that Stephen has joined us as we have ambitious plans to expand the scale and scope of our operations over the coming years and his experience will be invaluable in helping us make the right decisions.”
