Manchester lender puts community first

.

A Manchester-based lender has launched a new committee which will work to provide oppurtunities for greater community involvement for its employees.

Blemain Group's new committee will get involved in community projects by allowing its 400 staff to offer hands on support and time within their local communities.

The Supporting the Community Committee was formed by a cross section of volunteers from the business, and will focus solely on helping small local projects in the Greater Manchester area.

Irene Thomas, head of Commercial Underwriting at Blemain Group and Chair of the new committee, said: “As a business, we have always been active in supporting worthwhile causes and are committed to giving something back to our local community.  The new committee will organise schemes throughout the year which will allow staff at all levels to get involved and contribute to a good cause.”

The committee says it plans to help a range of local community organisations, from children's hospitals and youth centres to environmental and urban regeneration projects.

Irene added: “Making a difference is what it is all about. We already operate in a socially conscious working environment but this committee will put the strategy in place. We need to identify more projects than ever before, and we see this as a long-term commitment and look forward to forming lasting relationships with local groups and charities in the Greater Manchester community.”

The committee is asking anyone who is involved in a local project which they would like Blemain Group to consider to contact Irene on 0161 276 2187.
