CrowdProperty shuffles board

CrowdProperty has announced changes to its board, including the appointment of John Mould as non-executive chair of its board, and Simon Zutshi as a board observer.

John joined CrowdProperty as non-executive director in January 2020, after working as CEO at ESF Capital and ThinCats between 2015 and 2019.

Prior to this, he held various senior positions, including COO at Hermes Investment Management, COO at New Star Asset Management and executive director at Morgan Stanley.

Simon Zutshi, who is one of CrowdProperty’s co-founder, has assumed the board observer role as a major shareholder, in order to allow him to focus on the continued growth of Property Investors Network (PIN), which was launched in 2003 and was bought by Genius Group in December 2020.

Simon will continue his work as founder and CEO at PIN, in addition to his duties on CrowdProperty’s board.

This follows the appointment of Mark Stephens, former CEO of Allica Bank, to the board as a non-executive director.

Furthermore, CrowdProperty is looking to recruit an experienced CFO to further strengthen the executive team and board.

Michael Bristow, CEO at CrowdProperty, said: “Despite having surpassed the £100m lent milestone, we’re still at the start of what CrowdProperty can achieve in this market against a mission of unlocking the power of SME property developers in the UK — to build more homes, increase spend in the UK economy, and ever more efficiently and effectively match the supply and demand of capital for the benefit of all.

“These board changes reflect our major ambitions as we develop and execute against our three-year strategy, which will transform the scale and significance of the business.”

John added: “It’s an exciting time to be part of the driving force behind the fulfilment of CrowdProperty’s potential.

“The CrowdProperty business model —fundamental expertise at the core of the business, quality first-charge security positioning and technology-focus — presents huge opportunity to take the UK SME property project lending market.

“It’s impressive how the team have taken their time to build strategic advantage in the sector and can now controllably, selectively and profitably scale with quality at the core, underpinned by a strong and talented team and experienced board.”
