Century Capital recruits institutional management team

Short-term, prime property lender Century Capital has appointed Simon Golesworthy (pictured above, left) as group financial director and Ian Axe (right) as non-executive chairman.

This is part of a series of hires to form an institutional management team in order to consolidate new institutional funding lines and substantially increase transaction flow.

In his new role, Simon will be overseeing this and driving value creation.

He will assist in the opening of institutional funding lines to strengthen the finance function, as well as to support the growth strategy of the business.

Simon joins Century Capital from UK real estate investment trust Iron Mountain, where he held various senior management roles, including CFO.

Prior to this, he worked as a finance director at MCIFA.

Ian has over 25 years of capital markets experience working in investment banking, wealth and asset management, and market infrastructure.

In addition to his position at the lender, he is a non-executive director at Cignpost and founder of ACi, a fintech investment company.

Ian started his finance career at SBC Warburg, after which he held numerous senior executive roles throughout his career, including group CEO at Panmure Gordon, group CEO at LCH, and EMEA COO at Barclays Capital.

Simon said: “I can see great opportunity in this space to significantly grow the business and increase Century Capital’s transactional flow.”

Ian added: “I was impressed with the management, distribution and dynamic team at Century Capital, and I am delighted to have been asked to assist in the guidance and strategy of the business.

“It has made great progress and has a strong and well-balanced loan book specialising in prime property; I look forward to help steer the business to further successes in the near future.”

Paul Munford, CEO at Century Capital, commented: “This is an important time for Century Capital as we enter a new stage of sustained growth.

“The formation of an institutional management team will bolster the existing team and build on the substantial success of Century in the bridging space to date.”
