Octane and Bibby make new appointments

Octane Capital and Bibby Financial Services have made new hires.

Octane Capital

Octane Capital has recruited Mike Allen as an internal business development executive and Joshua Carmody and Tuathla Underwood as credit analysts.

Mike, who joins the specialist lender from Brightstar Financial, will assist BDMs with new enquiries and help structure deals for credit review.

He will report to Oli Greenspan, head of marketing and internal sales.

Meanwhile, Joshua and Tuathla will provide support to the credit team and will report to Gemma Salousti, Octane’s senior credit manager.

“Having previously worked for a specialist packager, moving to a specialist lender to use the knowledge I had gained was a natural next step,” said Mike.

“Octane has a superb reputation within the sector, is forward thinking, and has a fantastic work culture.

“People tend to move to Octane and then stay, which speaks volumes.”

Joshua added: “I studied economics at university and have always had an interest in the finance sector.

“When I graduated and started doing my research, Octane was clearly a fast-growing company in an expanding sector.

“I had also heard lots of positive things about the lender through connections, which made the decision to work here even easier.”

Tuathla commented: “Having completed my degree in accounting and finance, I started to job hunt and Octane immediately stood out.

“It isn’t just highly innovative, but really values its staff and has a fantastic training infrastructure in place.

“It’s great to know that you’re learning from the best.”

Mark Posniak, managing director at Octane, stated: “Our philosophy has always been to offer the highest service standards in the industry, and the addition of Tuathla, Mike and Josh is another step in that direction.

“All three have exactly what it takes to be a success at Octane, and we look forward to seeing them fulfil their potential in the months and years ahead.”

Bibby Financial Services

Bibby Financial Services has appointed Mike Day as head of sales for Yorkshire and the North East to boost its support for businesses in the region.

Mike has re-joined the company after spending just under a year as a director with Begbies Traynor Group, where he worked within the corporate solutions team to help SMEs source funding across Yorkshire and the Humber region.

Returning to the same role he had for seven years while working at Bibby Financial Services, Mike will be charged with leading a team to build on the firm’s presence within the region and raising its reputation as a supporter of local businesses.

In addition to his extensive career spanning 30 years, he has regularly been involved in activities supporting the local community, including the organisation of a virtual charity darts event between Bibby Financial Services and Begbies Traynor to raise money for charity One in a Million.

“Bibby Financial Services has long been one of the market leaders in invoice finance and has a particularly strong presence in Yorkshire,” said Mike.

“It’s crucial that it continues to provide the necessary support to SMEs to propel their recovery post-pandemic.

“My previous time at Bibby Financial Services was hugely enjoyable, and I am very happy to return and work with some familiar faces, alongside some new ones, during this exciting period for the business.”

Gary Davis, head of UK sales at Bibby Financial Services, added: “It was a straightforward decision to bring Mike back into the business and everyone at Bibby Financial Services is very happy to welcome him back.

“Mike will help us continue our momentum from a strong first half of the year, where sales teams across the country delivered strong results and underwrote high volumes of funding for SMEs.

“He will once again prove to be a very strong asset for us, and his expertise will help Bibby Financial Services expand its support for SMEs as the country continues to emerge from Covid-19 restrictions.”
