Pritchard's piece: Hats off to good service

Last week was a bit boring compared to the last few, the highlight being speeding into a pub car park in East Grinstead with 3 work colleagues, screeching to a halt and  jumping out of the car, leaving the doors open whilst indiscriminately pointing at people and calling them either a slag or a muppet - Sweeny style (for those who don’t remember a hard-hitting police drama of the 70’s starring John Thaw and Dennis Waterman) -  ah those were the days! I have an old Jag which has had to come back into service following the sale of my other car and that finished off the feeling of 70’s style (or lack of it).

On a serious note, there wasn’t much exciting happening in the market and since Roger Morris had his tanning booth fitted in the car things appeared calm. Two things that did impress me following the previous week's Bridging and Commercial Awards is the kudos that they obviously carried evidenced by the number of firms advertising their recognition in glorious technicolour. The Awards was also a good networking event.  I met lots of old friends who have been since in contact and my diary is full to bulging, plus a number of great deals have been passed both ways as people realised they weren’t the best at everything. It was a real pleasure to meet James and Amy from Pink Pig Loans (a firm obviously named after my good-self) who have obviously got a good business model and are working hard to promote it; they will no doubt keep Harry and Dan on their toes, although Enterprise are worthy winners of that award from personal experience working with their staff. One other company worth noting were Aztec, who got me out of trouble by getting in touch with clients within minutes - saving me from considerable embarrassment and cost compared to some others who should be hanging their own heads in shame! Thanks Gill for your help, your speed and cost. It’s service like theirs that gets deals through.

I have had some great broker feedback about lenders working outside the M25 and it will be interesting to read Miranda’s article this week on the subject. It still appears that some lenders pretend to look but only a very small number mean it!

By the way, we hacked Mo’s phone this week at work... we are now helping The Guinness Book of Records with their enquiries for having more Strippers numbers on one phone than anyone else in the world……..Now would you believe that?
