Wharf and Sirius launch charity initiatives

Wharf Financial and Sirius Property Finance have announced new charity events.

Wharf Financial

Wharf Financial has launched its first charity cycle challenge.

The company is assembling a team of 12 to 15 riders who will embark on a five-day journey on the N2 road — which runs the length of Portugal, totalling 465 miles — in a bid raise £50,000 for Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

All participants are set to average 93 miles a day, with the first two days requiring them to climb approximately 15,000 ft.

Sirius Property Finance

Sirius Property Finance has launched a charity golf day, aimed at bringing together members of the financial services sector to raise thousands of pounds for its adopted mental health charity for 2021, SANE.

The event will be held at Essendon Country Club in Hertfordshire on Tuesday 21st September, and will assemble teams from the company, industry, and even some celebrities.

Members of the lending community have already stepped forward to offer generous support of the event, including MT Finance, Together, Hampshire Trust Bank, Castle Trust Bank, Mint Property Finance, Propfin, United Trust Bank, LandBay, Lendhub, Octane Capital, Paragon, OneSavings Bank, Allica Bank, and ProperPR.

The day will also include a BBQ and other fundraising activities.

Sponsors or attendees can contact Leoni Alexandrou, head of operations at Sirius Property Finance, by sending an email [email protected] or calling 02080924405 in order to register their interest in participating and/or purchase tickets, which are available for £40.

Nicholas Christofi, managing director at Sirius Property Finance, said: “I am delighted to be hosting the forthcoming Sirius charity golf day which will be a fantastic way of assembling industry colleagues for what promises to be a hugely enjoyable day but, more importantly, [will] raise much needed funds for our mental health charity partner, SANE.

“This is a brilliant but lesser-known charity that offers emotional support, guidance, and information for anyone affected by mental illness.

“There has never been a more important time for us to support those affected by mental health issues.

“At Sirius, we feel passionate about keeping mental health very much on the agenda and doing all that we can to support people within and beyond our business who may need help.”

The wider Brightstar Group — which includes Sirius Property Finance — has made a proactive and ongoing commitment to raise awareness about mental health issues and provide support for team members who may be experiencing difficulties.

After introducing nine mental health first aiders from across its brands to support employees who have returned to work, the group launched its largest ever programme for Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) earlier in the year in acknowledgement of the challenges faced by everyone at this stage of the pandemic.
