Alternative Bridging Corporation and UTB make senior hires

Alternative Bridging Corporation and United Trust Bank have welcomed new members to their specialist finance teams.

Alternative Bridging Corporation

Alternative Bridging Corporation has appointed Robin Turnbull as head of underwriting.

Robin has over 30 years of experience in financial services and has held senior credit risk and underwriting roles for the last 17 years.

He previously worked at Clydesdale Bank, Clayton Euro Risk, Capital Bridging Finance and, most recently, Amicus Finance.

Commenting on his appointment, Robin said: “Alternative Bridging Corporation already has an excellent reputation for providing uncomplicated loans, swiftly and simply to help resolve often complex requirements.

“This takes experienced, hands-on underwriting combined with a collaborative approach and a can-do attitude.

“I’m looking forward to leading the team in delivering all of these qualities and helping to continue to build this growing reputation.”

Stephen Meller, director at Alternative Bridging Corporation, added: “Robin has a huge amount of experience and expertise in bridging, development and commercial finance and will play an important role in helping us to further enhance the excellent service we provide to our intermediaries.”

UTB

UTB has appointed Astrid Michael as the new head of sales for its asset finance division.

In her new role, she will focus on driving high growth through the bank’s broker-only strategy and continuing to build on the momentum of 2021, which saw its new business lending more than double.

Astrid has 20 years of experience working in the asset finance industry, having held roles at various companies, including ING and most recently, Hitachi Capital Business Finance.

Over the year, UTB has substantially developed its asset finance business, making 11 new appointments and signalling its increased appetite and capability to transact higher volumes of business and larger loan sizes.

“UTB has made a big impact this year, recruiting great people, developing its proposition and taking market share from competitors,” said Astrid.

“I’m excited to be joining Nathan [Mollett, head of asset finance at UTB] and the team and looking forward to reuniting with my old colleagues from ING, Peter Price and Louise McIntosh.”

Nathan added: “We are having an exceptionally busy year, breaking records for completed business and deal sizes and working with more new brokers than ever before, but this is just the beginning.

“The whole division is committed to driving our growth and the pursuit of service excellence; 2021 is going to be an outstanding year for UTB, but 2022 will put us into another league altogether.”
