Countrywide Surveying Services hires regional director

Countrywide Surveying Services (CSS) has appointed Hugh Riley (pictured above) as regional director for the South West and south Wales.

In his new role, he will be responsible for implementing the overall strategy into the region, while supporting CSS surveyors in reaching their full potential and delivering on client expectations.

Hugh, who is a RICS chartered surveyor, has worked in the property sector for over 30 years, having started as a negotiator at Woolwich Property Services.

Throughout his career, he held senior roles at various companies, including Simmons & Sons estate agency and, most recently, SDL Surveying, where he was a senior regional surveyor for the South for 14 years.

He has long-standing and widespread experience in joint high-valuation inspections (over £3m) and compliant high-value process design.

He also has significant industry technical expertise and a specialist interest in green mortgages, domestic EPC retrofit (including spray foam issues), non-traditional property and fringe subject matter.

Commenting on his appointment, Hugh said: “This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-structured organisation which is leading the way in residential surveying on a national scale.

“CSS is able to offer new openings for every level of surveyor experience and I am excited to be able to contribute to the business through the expertise I have gained over my many years in the property sector.

“The CSS South West region has a great surveying skillset, established mainstream client base with excellent valuation volume, regular CPD meetings and a supportive trainee programme.

“With CSS introducing new technology for field surveyors and new products for the marketplace, I am excited to be able to help lead this journey within the region and support our surveyors in further enhancing the customer and client experience.”

Rebecca Freeman, director of field operations at CSS, commented: “Hugh is a highly skilled and effective communicator with excellent leadership and management skills which team members within his region will certainly benefit from.

"He has established an outstanding reputation within the sector and we are looking forward to the experience and enthusiasm he will add to CSS and his ability to mentor and develop colleagues to help them maximise their potential.”
