New law firm specialising exclusively in independent legal advice launches

SRA-approved law firm iLA has entered the specialist finance market, specialising exclusively in independent legal advice.

Its founders, Anastasia Ttofis (pictured above, right), Luke Baldwin (left) and Dion McCarthy (centre), set up the company after experiencing challenges in finding independent legal advice in the bridging and commercial finance market.

In a move to change the way this was provided, the trio — who are all qualified solicitors who diversified over the years, with previous experience brokering in the specialist lending industry — created a firm to bring innovative, fast and client-focused solutions for all banking and property-related independent legal advice.

The team’s background offers them a unique insight into the requirements of lenders and an understanding of the time pressures and constraints that can sometimes arise in transactions requiring independent legal advice.

“We understand that the legals can often cause a lot of frustration and delay, and so once we have received the documents and onboarded the client, we can usually provide the independent legal advice within two hours,” said Anastasia.

“After the meeting, we will immediately contact the lender to advise that the independent legal advice has been provided, and so the whole process can be completed, from start to finish, in less than a day.”

The founders have collectively been advising on complex banking and property related issues for decades.

What does iLA offer the specialist lending industry?

  • same-day service
  • seven days a week (8am-8pm)
  • instant independent legal advice booking facility
  • independent legal advice provided online via video
  • fixed fees and no hidden costs
  • specialist banking and property lawyers

Sean Robertson, managing director at specialist lender Castlehill Capital, commented: “We approached Anastasia when our client was in a very tight position with regard to timescales.

“He needed independent legal advice completed urgently or his loan would not compete.

“iLA stepped in and provided very quick and concise information on the requirements and procedure required to complete the independent legal advice via video call.

“The firm pointed out potential issues so we could address them with the solicitor prior to the video call and make sure everybody was on the same page for a more straightforward process.

“This took a lot of the pressure off our client in what could’ve been a very anxious situation.”
