Wharf Financial launches charity cycle initiative

Wharf Financial Services has launched a new charity cycle challenge to raise money for ChildAid to Eastern Europe.

The company is assembling a team of riders, who will embark on a five-day journey on the N2 road — which runs the length of Portugal, totalling 466 miles — in a bid to raise £25,000 for the charity.

Currently, eight riders have signed up for the challenge, including Wharf Financial’s managing director Marc Champ and head of commercial finance Simon King, as well as Michael Dean, co-founder of Avamore Capital.

To hit the £25,000 fundraising target, the team is looking for firms across the sector to sponsor the challenge.

The group will also be organising a pub quiz The Parcel Yard, Kings Cross on 3rd May and a golf day on 6th June to raise additional funds for the charity initiative.

In addition, people can make donations via the N2 Challenge JustGiving page or on ChildAid’s dedicated webpage.

Those interested in taking part in the initiative, attending the fundraising events or sponsoring the challenge can contact [email protected] or [email protected].

“We want to support this great charity given the tragic events that are occurring in Ukraine,” said Simon.

“This small, nimble charity works with local partners and representatives and has the ability to quickly provide help and support where it is most needed.

“We have taken on this tough challenge, as we know that our sponsors will want to see our commitment to the cause, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

“Hopefully it goes without saying that we pay all our own costs, ChildAid will receive 100% of any funds that we can raise.

“We want to invite anyone who is interested to support us with this challenge; we have an extremely proactive marketing team and our ride will be covered extensively on social media.”
