Phoebus Software Limited introduces mental health first aiders

Phoebus Software Limited (PSL) has introduced mental health first aiders into the workplace to support employees who may be struggling.

Five PSL employees are now fully qualified mental health first aiders and have formed a committee in order to provide confidential, non-judgemental support to their colleagues.

The company hosted a “Lunch and Learn” session, during which the newly trained mental health first aiders explained their role, the help they can offer, and how they plan to support the business in future.

With the Health and Safety Executive reporting that 50% of work-related ill health cases being caused by depression, stress, or anxiety in 2020/21, PSL believes that this is an important issue which needs to be addressed.

“We take the welfare of our colleagues extremely seriously and want them all to know they can get help if they need it, no matter how big or small their issues are.” Kate Langton, chief people officer at PSL, notes.

“By appointing mental health first aiders who have been trained and are fully qualified, we hope colleagues will feel able to talk to them and be supported within the workplace; the team’s presence also raises awareness of mental health issues.

“We also encourage colleagues to look out for each other, ask if they are okay, and talk about our mental health like we often do with our physical health."
