The Premiership star, who is well known for his property ventures, saw the first building work take place this week at his future £5.75million home on Queens Drive in Oxshott.
.
With properties on Queens Drive going for an average of £4 million, according to property website Zoopla, John Terry’s estate will top all the other properties in the area.
Oxshott in Surrey, which is very near to Chelsea’s training ground in Stoke D’Abernon, is seen as the top address for footballers, with Ashley Cole, Scott Parker and Fernando Torres all residents.
The Chelsea skipper had originally applied for extension plans back in 2008, which were turned down after complaints from neighbours, at his current Oxshott mansion – Wychwood House. In 2009, he had applied for permission for a new wing at the property, which was last valued at £3 million. This process now means that Terry’s planning permission ordeal, which were approved in January of this year, for his ‘super mansion’ are now finally behind him.
The lavish new mansion will have 19 rooms on the ground floor and boast nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms, eight dressing rooms, a cinema, a 10m x 5m indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room and changing facilities.
There will be an accommodation wing for staff and an annexe in the opposite wing to accommodate any visitors.
A source involved with the building said: “I’ve done a lot of footballers’ houses, but this is a big one. It’s one of the biggest I’ve ever worked on.
“I reckon you’re looking at about 18 months until it’s ready and he can actually walk through the door. But once it's done, it will be beautiful,” reported the Elmbridge Guardian.
The England ace has been in the news earlier this year also after a High Court writ alleged that he had refused to pay the balance from his initial deposit for three flats he invested in, he was subsequently forced to dish out £1.74 million to the builders.
The new property is incidentally situated just under three miles away from where criminals are targeting millionaires’ homes on one of Britain’s most private estates, the exclusive St George’s Hill Estate, home to oil tycoons and hedge fund managers, reported the Surrey Comet this week.
According to the Surrey Police, in the past six months the area has seen eight crimes, including suspected shotgun robbery, vehicle crime, thefts and other robberies.
The Chelsea star will move into the house with his family in spring 2013.
