Baby Reuben Elijiah Street

Word On The Street founders win Best Newcomer TWICE at B&C Awards 2024

Just hours after winning the B&C Award for Best Broker Newcomer, Word On The Street founders Michael Street and Jasmine Ough welcomed their son, Reuben Elijiah Street, into the world.

Michael and Jasmine had travelled down from Manchester for the annual event, and while Jasmine had anticipated the birth could happen soon, she was taken by surprise by the arrival of their son that evening.

“Having arrived at the awards ceremony not feeling particularly well, nothing could have prepared me (us) for what was about to happen next,” Jasmine said.

Baby Reuben was born a healthy 5lbs 15oz in London, before being taken back home to Manchester.

Jasmine described her elation: “We are so grateful to have experienced this day and to have shared it with our friends and colleagues across the industry.

“Nobody else will ever be able to say that they received two best newcomers in one day; it really was like being in wonderland.”

Michael also commented on the rollercoaster day: “[It was] such a wonderful shock. Within a very short period, emotionally we went from the elation of winning our award to the trauma of being told Jasmine was going into theatre for an emergency delivery — just a few hours later, our boy was born.

“Winning at the B&C Awards has always been on my ‘goals’ list but now, all of the team at B&C are well and truly intertwined with our own story and we will never, ever forget the day that we became proud parents to not one but two golden Bs—a B&C trophy and our Golden Boy."
