Despite the monthly stall, the three months leading to April saw a 0.7% increase, compared to the three months leading to January 2024.
According to the ONS, comments received by some retail businesses indicated that the reduced output in April was due to wetter weather than average.

Production output declined by 0.9% in April following a 0.2% growth in March of this year, despite this, the three months leading to April saw a 0.7% rise.
Meanwhile a fall in construction output of 1.4% in April, saw a third consecutive monthly decline and a 2.2% fall in the three months leading to April 2024.
