Just Mortgages sees 25% increase in broker applications to self-employed division

Just Mortgages, received an extra 25% of applications from brokers looking to join its self-employed division in Q2.

The brokerage received 50 applications for Q2 compared with 40 in Q1 from brokers looking to go self-employed.

According to Just Mortgages, the latest cohort of applicants was largely made up of existing self-employed brokers looking to move away from corporate structures and organisations, while other applicants included employed brokers looking to start their own businesses.

Ben Allkins, head of mortgages and protection at Just Mortgages (pictured above), said: “It’s hugely encouraging to see self-employed applications continue to rise.

“Recruitment is without question one of the biggest issues facing the market, especially given the conditions we have seen and the challenges in the wider economy.

“It means that it’s not just prospective brokers taking a leap of faith, but firms too.”
