Sneak peek: B&C Happy Hour calls industry to the bar

.

For the first time next month, B&C will be taking to the streets with our inaugural industry-wide Happy Hour event.

In a bid to widen discussion channels within the industry, and get to the heart of the topics brokers really want answered, intermediaries, lenders, packagers and other financial service professionals will be spending some quality time with us in a place where all good discussions have a chance to shine: the pub.

After forging close relationships with those integral to the market over the years, B&C will be using our extensive network to bring together individuals representing all aspects of financial services as we fire up a no-holds-barred debate, and enjoy a drink or two.

The first Happy Hour will focus on the complex subject of regulation, specifically with regard to the issue of regulated versus non-regulated classification of a loan. Flagged as a topic of some controversy at a recent association meeting, many intermediaries are unsure when a contract specifically starts.

The discussion will shed some light on exactly what stage of a deal different contracts apply, and the presentation of alternate scenarios will bring to the fore the major milestones of the bridging process and when these contracts come into force. This debate, which is in response to concerns that some regulated deals may be being pushed through as unregulated, will clarify what introducers need to do to best protect themselves from any liability.

Likely to lead on to other controversial subjects, including a wider discussion on the MMR and proposed regulation, we will be tweeting live throughout the event, bringing you the latest as it happens.

Ensure you’re kept up to speed as we release further Happy Hour details and make sure you don’t miss all the news from the event itself by following us @BandCNews on Twitter.
