A London-based bridging lender is showing no sign of slowing down this year as it announces yet another appointment – a new addition to its underwriting team.
B&C can confirm that Masthaven Bridging Finance has appointed Colin Moth as an underwriter. Colin, who started his first day last Monday, had his first experience of underwriting in 1997 while working at Central Trust.
Colin said: “I started within the broker department, there were just two of us, and my role was to contact introducers and sell the benefits of using Central Trust as a packager and lender. Within two years, I was running the department and I had a team of sellers and underwriters.”
Leaving Central Trust in January 2001, Colin started work with Stuart Aitken, now Chief Operating Officer at Masthaven Secured Loans Limited, at Southern Pacific Personal Loans (SPPL) initially as a processor.
Colin explained, “Within 12 months, I was promoted to Underwriter and within a further 12 months I was promoted to Team Leader, running a team of ten who looked after the main introducers at that time.”
Colin left SPPL shortly after Lehman’s took control and subsequently worked as Seconds Manager with the founders of SPPL, when they engaged in a joint venture named Concert Mortgages.
However, when the launch never materialised, due to uncertainty within the mortgage market at the time, he joined Link Lending as an Underwriter, where he remained for 12 months until funding issues rendered him redundant.
Commenting on the recent appointment, Richard Deacon, Sales & Marketing Director, said: “With Masthaven’s increasing flow of business, both regulated and non-regulated, Colin’s appointment is a massive boost to the team at Masthaven.
“He brings with him a wealth of experience within financial services and has that ‘can do’ attitude that is so highly sought after. I have no hesitation in thinking Colin will fit right in with the rest of the team and I am looking forward to working with him.”
