London-based bridging financier Montello has expanded its management team with the hire of Naeem Tabassum as its Chief Financial Controller.

Naeem was previously with Cheval for six years, as its Group Finance Manager, and brings to Montello a good working knowledge of the bridging finance market. Naeem is a chartered accountant and has a Masters in Business Administration.

Prior to Cheval he worked at for a number of companies as a management accountant or Assistant Financial Controller. He has also designed and implemented accounting systems for various companies.

Montello said that with its expanding funding facilities, it was necessary to start building a financial control division and bring some of its accounting functions in-house.

Christian Faes, Managing Director of Montello Bridging Finance, said: "Since Montello started four years ago, we have expanded and diversified our funding sources significantly. We originally started off with investors that invested on a deal-by-deal basis, and the business has now evolved considerably from that funding model. We now have a family office investor, our own flagship Montello Income Fund, our recently launched Montello Development Finance Fund, and also bank funding lines. Our funds have investors throughout the UK, the Middle East, and Asia.

“We are also speaking with some of the larger institutions and have a good on-going working dialogue with a couple of potential large-scale funders. As such, it was necessary to have a financial controller that can assist with our investor reporting and portfolio management. We are excited to have Naeem join our team to assist with this."
