Dragonfly provided £1 million of mezzanine finance to aid the work on the property, currently owned by Gary Brine, chief executive of the property development company, Aspire. Brine purchased the property from the McQueen estate a year or so after his death.

McQueen was due to move into the Dunraven Street-based property not long after he took his own life in February 2010. He bought the apartment because of its proximity to Hyde Park where he planned to walk his dogs. The apartment was previously home to the humourist, P.G. Wodehouse.

Even today, the flat has echoes of McQueen via its large wine cellar, which McQueen had planned to stock with bottles of Chateau Latour (provided to him by the Pinault family, majority shareholders in the McQueen fashion house).

The 2,500 sq ft three-bedroom apartment is to go on the market for £7.25 million via the Mayfair office of Knight Frank.

Alastair Nicholson, Senior Negotiator at Knight Frank, Mayfair, said: "Dunraven Street is a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of Mayfair's cultural history as well as an opportunity to purchase a stunning example of finishing to the highest possible standard on one of Mayfair's premier streets."

Mark Posniak, Head of Sales and Marketing, Dragonfly Property Finance, commented: “It was a privilege to be involved in the renovation of such a special property in such a fantastic location. While not McQueen himself, Gary and Aspire, as the pictures reveal, have done an exceptional job in turning the property around. I’m sure there will be a huge amount of interest.”
