Deadline day was largely dominated by struggling Premier League teams and big-money deals that never materialised, and managers within the industry-only football competition have even more players to boost their fantasy teams’ performances.

The industry-only B&C competition, which is free to join at the Fantasy Premier League site, is being sponsored this year by specialist bank United Trust Bank.

The close of January also means B&C can announce the latest monthly winner for this year’s The Finance Fantasy Football League competition.

With 260 points, Finance Junkies’ team Credit Crunchers* has pipped Mark Simmons and Lee Prigmore by 9 and 11 points respectively to claim January’s title.

Alan Margolis, Head of Bridging at United Trust Bank, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring this season’s finance football competition.

“This Premier league season is shaping up to be one of the most open for years, and dare I say it as a QPR fan, even more interesting than the Championship!

“Well done to all our winners so far, many of whom are still in the running for our end of season Grand Prize of a weekend hotel stay in London with a meal at a top class restaurant.

“In addition to a great prize for the ultimate winner, we’ve also got monthly prizes to give away. Good luck to all the aspiring Wengers and Mourinhos and may the best manager win!”

Hope Capital’s Jonathan Sealey is currently leading the way with 1,428 points. There are just 90 points separating the top ten teams.

United Trust Bank, one of the leading providers of bridging, property development and asset finance, is providing each Manager of the Month, from August through to April, with the prize of a bottle of either red or white wine.

The Overall Manager at the end of May will win a weekend’s stay at a London hotel and a £500 voucher for dinner at a top London restaurant.
