The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has shamed a fake firm which has been impersonating an authorised bridging loan brokerage.

The FCA has issued a warning about fraudsters who are using the details of the FCA authorised Pembrokeshire-based bridging brokerage, Cloud 9 Loans, in order to try and convince people that they work for the actual genuine, registered firm.

The members behind the clone firm have not been registered by the FCA and are using the name of the genuine firm, as well as its interim permission number and firm address.

The following details are being given out by the cloned firm as part of their tactics to scam people in the UK:

Address: The Studio, Garthwen Lower Moor, St Davids, SA62 6RP
Telephone: 0203 2908836
Website: www.cloud9loans.co.uk

The regulator warned the public to be aware that the scammers may give out alternate false details or mix these with some correct details of the registered firm.

The FCA registered firm that fraudsters are claiming to work for has no association with the ‘clone firm’.  It is registered to provide consumer credit services in the UK and its correct details are:

Firm name: Piggy Finance Limited t/a Cloud 9 Loans
Interim Permission number: 652989
Addresses: Garthwen, Lower Moor, St David’s, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, SA62 6RP
Website: www.cloud9loans.co.uk

This genuine firm will not ask consumers to pay an upfront / advance fee. On the genuine firm’s website, it states a warning to visitors:

“SCAM WARNING!!! People are being contacted by a company saying they are Cloud9 Loans and asking you to pay a fee to obtain a loan. This is a scam, do not hand over any money. Cloud9loans does not charge an upfront fee! Feel free to string these people along and waste as much of their time as possible.”

The FCA directs those who think their registered firm has been cloned or scammers are fraudulently using their name or other details, contact its Helpline on 0845 606 9966.
