p>The FCA has blacklisted a property portal which has been providing products in the UK without is authorisation.

Property portal, Ownbrix Client Services Limited, Ownbrix International Ltd and a Ownbrix of Bateman Court, Bateman Street, Derby has been red flagged by the regulator.

“This firm is not authorised by us but has been targeting people in the UK,” the watchdog warned.

The Derby-based firm, which has offices around the world, including New Zealand, launched in 2009 with an aim to give people the chance to invest in property.

According to its website, the firm already has “thousands of satisfied members and are growing every day”.

The portal advertises that members can join in under 60 seconds. Additionally, the next 20,000 new clients can be offered a membership free of charge.

“Once you are a member you can start to build your own property portfolio or just trade Brix® for a profit. In a few minutes from now, you could be a property owner,” according to the portal’s literature.

The firm also states that members can buy or own a home “without any form of loan”, by using its ‘Rent To Buy’ program.

“You choose how long you want to take to buy the home and you choose how much you can afford to pay each month,” the site noted.

The firm also advertises that earnings can be “over 20 per cent” a year on investments, where money is protected by the full security of property.

Almost all firms that offer, promote or sell financial services or products in the UK have to be authorised by the regulator.

Money that is given to an unauthorised firm will not be covered by the FOS or FSCS if a problem arises.

The FCA has advised that the Financial Services Register should be checked to check that a financial firm is authorised, as a way of protection.
