Dale Williams and Larkin Cen, who run healthy Chinese takeaway Hokkei, have offered 25% of their business on the site and have already drawn the attention of more than 160 investors.

£225,000 has already been committed to the campaign and Seedrs is on course to break the £1m milestone for Welsh-based businesses, including financing an image sharing service which had turned down an offer on Dragon’s Den and raised money through Seedrs instead.

Jeff Lynn, CEO at Seedrs, said he was proud to be on the cusp of raising £1m for Welsh businesses and believed Wales had become a hotbed for innovative start-ups.

“We’re hoping to use this milestone, and our new relationship with Impact Innovations, as a launchpad to raise more capital for Welsh businesses and believe that equity crowdfunding can help these companies to fulfil their growth ambitions,” said Jeff.

The UK alternative finance market is predicted to grow to £4.4bn in 2015 up from £1.7bn in 2014.
