Genie Lending lists FundingKnight on its panel of lenders and typically lends to clients with annual turnovers between £300,000 and £20m.

Commenting on its relationship with the lender, Geoff Cooney, one of Genie’s five Case Managers, said FundingKnight was different from other lenders as it was relationship-driven rather than transaction-driven.

“It’s what they call Responsive Lending,” said Geoff.

“They go beyond simply trying to get one more deal on the books; they care about developing relationships because they want to retain clients and be in the position to provide more finance further down the line when it is required.”

“The main thing we like is the properly structured, professional approach, but we also like the short timeframe to process applications, the great customer service, the relatively inexpensive finance and FundingKnight’s eagerness to do more business going forward.”

Genie Lending has arranged finance for businesses operating across most sectors, including manufacturing, business services, hotels and care homes.

“Around two-thirds of our business is placed in the alternative finance sector – it is our bread and butter,” added Mr Cooney.

“We use this market to raise short term cash flow finance, for invoice discounting and for longer term funding requirements.”
