The challenger bank said Sally-Ann Hibberd brings a wealth of experience to the position.

Sally-Ann has spent the last six years at insurance broker Willis, where she was Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the International Division and then Group Operations and Technology Director.

Before that, she was International COO at reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter for two years, as well as holding a number of senior executive roles during a 10 year career at Lloyds TSB.

Sally-Ann is also a Non-Executive Director of NFU Mutual.

Iain Cornish, Chairman at Shawbrook Bank, said: "I am delighted to welcome Sally-Ann to the board. She brings significant experience gained at senior level from across a wide variety of business sectors which will be of tremendous value to Shawbrook as we continue the successful growth and development of the bank."

Yesterday Shawbrook announced that demand for its bridging products had exceeded its expectations.
