Towards the end of January, Athens-based Piraeus Bank announced the resignation of CEO Anthimos Thomopoulos and named Stavros Lekkakos as Interim CEO.

Piraeus Bank said it has elected David Hexter as a new Independent Non-Executive Member and Alexander Blades and Andreas Schultheis as Non-Executive Board Members.

All three will serve for the remaining term of the board.

The boardroom shake-up follows the recent resignation of Non-Executive Vice Chairman  N Christodoulakis and Independent Non-Executive Member S Golemis.

In 1999, Piraeus opened a City of London branch focusing on lending facilities for property investments in the UK and personal banking services for high-net-worth individuals.
