Graham Beale will retire on 4th April 2016, with Joe Garner replacing him on 5th April 2016.
Graham, who joined Nationwide in 1985, has seen the building society grow and expand into one of the country’s leading lenders.
His replacement Joe joins from BT Group where he was chief executive of Openreach.
Prior to that he was deputy chief executive of HSBC Bank and head of HSBC, roles which included responsibility for all of HSBC’s retail and banking business, including Marks and Spencer Bank, First Direct and the John Lewis Partnership Card.
Joe was also chair of the Financial Services Authority Practitioner Panel from 2011-2013 and a non-executive director of the Financial Ombudsman Service from 2007-2010.
