Bank hires commercial finance MD




Williams & Glyn has appointed a managing director of commercial finance.

The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has appointed a managing director of commercial for its Williams & Glyn spin-off bank.

Rob Allen will be joining RBS in May subject to regulatory approval.

He is joining from HSBC Commercial Banking where he most recently held the position of Managing Director of Financial Sponsor Coverage for the UK and Europe.

Jim Brown, Chief Executive of Williams & Glyn, said: “I’m really pleased to have Rob on board at Williams & Glyn.

“He brings a wealth of experience from a wide range of roles within business and financial services which will be a real asset to the team.”

Rob has held various other senior level positions within HSBC where he was responsible for leveraged finance, financial sponsors and portfolio monitoring.

Prior to this, Rob headed up a dedicated mid-market acquisitions team at Westpac.

Rob said: "Williams & Glyn has a very strong commercial business, which I am delighted to have been offered the chance to lead.

“I look forward to joining Jim Brown's team soon and to playing a key role in serving the businesses who already bank with us, and also in attracting new customers to Williams & Glyn.”

RBS is preparing to divest Williams & Glyn which serves 1.8 million customers and has net loans and advances to customers of £20bn and customer deposits of £24m.
